National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The NCC Unit of the SKR&SKR Govt. Degree College for Women(A), Kadapa is functioning with 70 cadets during the 1993-1994 by 5(A) Girls Bn. Tirupati.
Aims of the NCC Aims of NCC:
- To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizen.
- To create a human resource of organised trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and be always available for the service of the nation.
History:
National Cadet corps (NCC) has its genesis in the University Corps’, which was created under the Indian Defense Act 1917 with the object to make up the shortage of the Army. In 1920, when the Indian Territorial Act was passed, the University Corps’ was replaced by University Training Corps’ ( UTC). In 1942, the UTC was renamed as University Officers Training Corps’ (UOTC). The need to create a youth organization at National Level to train the young boys & girls to be better citizen and further leaders of our great country in all walks of life, including defense forces, was rightly realized by our leaders. A committee under Pandit H.N. Kunzru was set up in 1946 at the behest of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The NCC came into existence on 16th July 1948 under the Act XXXVI of 1948 under the Ministry of Defense (MOD). It was constituted in Andhra Pradesh in May 1949.

Objectives
- To develop the students to serve for humanity.
- To provide an opportunity to the students to know the dignity of labour,self-discipline, the qualities of patriotism and secularism.
- To channelise the youth energy to bring about changes in the society for the development of community.
- To help the villagers to earn general wisdom.
- To help the villagers to develop their economic condition to face the modern necessities
- To inculcate the community, the spirit of nationalism, self-reliance and professional culture or the betterment of both the individual and the nation.

"I do hereby solemnly promise that I will serve my motherland most truly and loyally and that, I will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Cadet Corps. Further under the command and control of my commanding officer I will participate in every camp most sincerely and wholeheartedly".

We the cadet of the national cadet corps, do solemnly pledge that we shall always uphold the unity of india.We resolve to be disciplined and responsible citizen of our nation.We shall undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for our fellow beings.

Organizational set up
The SKR & SKR Govt. Degree College for Women(A), Kadapa has given prime importance to national integration. Realizing the role of youth, in the defence of our Country, the College at its very birth has taken steps in starting an NCC Army Unit. Thus on 1993, the inauguration of the Girl’s unit took place.
The present strength of the Unit is one CTO and 150 Cadets. Under open scheme of enrollment the NCC Sub Unit provides training to Senior students of institution.
The Unit is under the direct control of Dr. V. Saleem Basha garu the Principal of the college. All correspondence is through the Principal. He plays a vital role in motivating the cadets and the Associate NCC Officer (CTO). CTO is the officer who keeps the link between the cadets and 5(A) Girls battalion Tirupati. Presently Dr. B. Swarupa of the Department of Mathematics is the CTO. Parents play a very important role in motivating their wards to join the NCC. They render physical, moral and psychological support to their girls cadets.

- Participated in 78th Independence Day Samman Police Parade at Kadapa Police Grounds and received Second Prize from honourable Minister & honourable District Collector 2024-2025.
- Participated in State Level 78th Independence Day Parade at Vijayawada secured First Prize 2024-2025.
- Attended the All India Rock Climbing Training Camp held at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh 2024-2025.
- Attended the All India Trekking Camp at Guntur 2024-2025.
- Participated in 76th Republic Day Samman Police Parade at Kadapa Police Grounds and received First Prize from honourable District Collector 2024-2025.
- Participated in 76th Republic Day Samman Police Parade at New Delh 2024-2025.
- 2nd prize in the parade on police ground-2022-2023.
- Best Cadet award Won by P.Shashanka-2021-2022.
- Best Parade Prize won by our NCC Cadets at Police ground-2021-2022.
- Won 3rd prize in cultural event at EBSB camp-2021-2022.
- Adharana shelter appreciated our college NCC Cadets and presented Memento and Shawl to the cadetsOur NCC Cadets won 2nd prize for drill in Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-I-2021-2022.
- Won 1st prize in Kho-Kho during CATC-I-2021-2022.
- Our cadets got 1st prize by K.Bhanu sri and 2nd prize by Manasa during Firing Camp-2021-2022.
- Won 1st prize by swetha and 2nd prize by G.Vani in cultural during CATC II.-2021-2022.
- Our cadet Sri Lakshmi Won 2nd prize in Drawing during CATC II-2021-2022.
- R.Gayathri won 1st prize in singing during CATC III-2021-2022.
- Our cadet K.Bhanu Sri won Best cadet award during CATC IV-2021-2022.
- Our cadet D.Manasa won 1st prize in Health and Hygiene during CATC IV-2021-2022.
- Our cadet G.Mamatha won 1st prize in Obstacles during CATC IV-2021-2022.
- Two cadets P.Bhavitha Keerthi and R.Supriya were selected for Annual Leadership Camp at Chhattisgarh-2021-2022.
- 5 cadets were selected for Tall Sainik Camp at Chittoor-2021-2022.
