ABOUT DEPARTMENT

ESTABLISHMENT: The department of Urdu was established in the year 1973 at the undergraduate level as second language. In 2013 BA (HUCA UM) course and 2021BA (HUP) Programme was started with a view to cater to the needs in the socially backward and economically weaker students of the Kadapa region, which is a drought-prone area.

Aims:

The Department of Urdu aims at maintaining academic excellence and equipping Women students with the moral skills necessary to face the challenges of the society. This is the only one Women Government Residential College in the Y.S.R Kadapa   District. To provide Urdu language and literature as a second language for all Medias and also a programme HPU& HUCA in Urdu medium with advance Urdu semester wise.

Objective:

The Department’s main objective is to spread awareness about Urdu language literary and cultural importance and relevance of the Urdu culture.Department aims to promote the Urdu language as the language ofknowledge, and Urdu literature as the literature of values especially human values that can withstand the buffeting forces of time.

• The Department of Urdu was established in 1973 as one of the Second Languages for all UG Programmes.
• In the academe year 2013-2014a new BAHUCA UG programme as self financed one with Urdu mediumwas started with combination of History, Special Urdu/Advance Urdu and Computer Application courses.
• In the academic year 2021-2022 a new BA (HUP) UG programme was started as conventional programme.

To emerge as a premier place of higher education in providing holistic education in the most populated Urdu knowing Place of  Kadapa.

 Mission

To provide conceptual clarity and experiential learning atmosphere to the   students in the field of Mother Tongue Urdu language and Literature.

•  To update the knowledge base of the students with current trends in the fieldUrdu language and Literature.
• To prepare the students as a teacher/lecturer/Group-I officers/UPSC etc. in all fields as responsible citizenand to transform young girls into socially responsible and morally committed women in their culture and social aspects.
