DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

        Department of Botany established in the year 1973. Botany department SKR&SKR Govt. College for Women (A), Kadapa is running academic platforms at undergraduate level with the support of two teachers. The department is provided with two well equipped laboratory. The department is enriched with learning assets such as charts, museum specimens, slides, models, herbarium and modern facilities like, LCD, internet, computers which help the students in independent learning. Every year, department organizes botanical excursions in view to study the wild plant diversity, forest ecosystem and to inculcate the botanical research knowledge to the students by visiting Agriculture University.

Our vision is to conduct innovative research, teaching and outreach on the patterns and processes of life with a focus on plants and their environments. 

To provide modern, skill oriented and quality education to the students in Plant Sciences, contributing in the process of social development and for the holistic development of students into valuable global citizens.

MISSION

       We are committed to teaching ethical behaviour in experimental design and practice to all of our students. The department strives to provide the best educational opportunities possible for students to attain their academic goals and to facilitate faculty in scholarship in an atmosphere that encourages free exchange of ideas. Students will become life-long learners in diverse careers, serving the greater good by developing and sustaining an ethical civilization through enhanced medical, biological, and environmental stewardship.

Goals and Objectives

• To Impart quality education in the fields of Botany to make the students acquire an in-depth knowledge relevant to local, regional and national needs.
• To adequately equip the students to apply themselves meaningfully in any activity requiring botanical expertise.
• To produce well trained careers and inculcate the concept of conservation of biodiversity.
• To provide a wide-spectrum comprehension of aspects of plants.
